Welcome to the second electronic issue of Updater, the official newsletter of WSMA. Receiving this essential information is just one of the many WSMA membership benefits. Important electronic updates are sent regularly throughout the academic year, so please be sure WSMA has your current email address.
2005 Middle Level State Honors Conductors
 
The Wisconsin State Honors Music Project offers talented youth the opportunity to rehearse and perform with nationally-known conductors in a professional setting. Meet the 2005 conductors!
Middle Level Honors Online Application
  Deadline is 11:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005.
To complete the online application process, you'll need your students' contact information, their email address, voice/instrument, audition date and location preference. Auditions take place Friday, April 8 at Kettle Morraine, La Crosse and Wausau and Saturday, April 9 at Eau Claire, Kaukauna and Fort Atkinson (Directions to Audition Locations). Remember to print and mail the invoice with $15.00 payment for each audition.
2004 Middle Level Honors Audition Summary
 
For your reference, WSMA offers a convenient "By the Numbers..." breakdown of last year's WSMA Middle Level State Honors Music Project. The summary includes the number of applicants and corresponding number of invitees for Strings, Vocal and Woodwind/Brass/Percussion areas.
Festival Resources

  • You will need to use your WSMA school code (2) and password (wsmamember) to access the Members Only section of the WSMA web site, where you'll find an array of online resources for the festival season.

    Many teachers are successfully utilizing the solo and ensemble rubric forms in their students' festival preparation.

    Permissions, concert festival registration, medal order and other useful forms are also readily available along with WSMA festival rules updates and reminders, WSMA festival dates and locations and teacher online data entry instructions.

    2005-2006 Dues and Fees
     
    The WSMA board recently approved dues and fees for 2005 -2006 WSMA activities.
    2004-2005 WSMA Operating Budget
     
    The WSMA board approved budget amounts for this fiscal year.
    Important Reminders and Dates
     
    Festival permission requests must be received in the WSMA office four weeks prior to your festival date. No faxes accepted.

  • Middle Level State Honors Auditions (closes at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005)
  • WSMA State Solo & Ensemble Festivals (opens in early spring/due right after your last District Festival)
