High School State Honors
 

Apply Now - Deadline is 11 p.m., Friday, December 7
To complete the online application process, you'll need your students' personal contact information, their email address, voice/instrument, and audition date and location preference. Auditions will take place on Saturday, February 2 at Eau Claire, Waukesha and Appleton and Saturday, February 9 at Stevens Point, La Crosse, Middleton and Milwaukee. Remember to print and mail the invoice with $18 payment for each audition. Apply now...

Middle Level State Honors
 

Registration Opens Soon
Registration for the spring WSMA Middle Level State Honors auditions will be accepted from December 11, 2007 to January 16, 2008. Registration is exclusively online through the WSMA web site. Conductors for 2008 include Choir- Lynn Gackle, Band- Quincy Hilliard and Orchestra-Juan Tony Guzman. Look for more Middle Level State Honors details in the next Updater.
Festivals
 

Rule Changes
2007-2008 rules changes and reminders may be reviewed in your WSMA Handbook, or online. Festival questions can be directed to Jeff Gretzinger, Tim Wurgler or Richard Fellenz via email or by calling the WSMA office at 1-800-589-9762 or 608-850-3566.

Teacher Online Data Entry
WSMA Festivals data entry via Teacher Online Data Entry (TOLDE) continues to assist teachers in entering their festival information. Access to TOLDE is only available through the Members Only section. January festivals will be available beginning December 15 with all remaining festivals available January 7, 2008. Remember your WSMA school code and password are needed to gain access to the Members Only area. Quick-Start TOLDE instructions may also be downloaded from the site.

Music List Updates
NEW! Visit the Music List Updates link on our homepage for the latest information about the music on the Festival Music List. Corrections to current listings, new eligible editions and clarification of instructions will be logged at this spot for your reference. Special note: Due to printer error, the printed version of the solo lists incorrectly shows the old Classical Guitar solo list. The list available on the web site shows the correct list, featuring new solos.

Student Composition Project
 

WSMA honored the winners of its 19th annual WSMA/DPI Student Composition Project on November 1 at the State Capitol in Madison. Five students from across the state were recognized for their creative musical work during a 1 p.m. awards ceremony.

Upcoming Workshops
 

The Wisconsin Center for Music Education, located in Waunakee (just north of Madison), is offering a variety of professional development workshops with graduate credit available, such as "Beyond Ratings: Preparing Students for Solo and Ensemble Festival" on December 1. Be sure to read on for entriguing details about this workshop and others, and register early because seating is limited!
Share a Tradition in "Wisconsin School Musician"
 

The April issue of Wisconsin School Musician will share a variety of ways tradition can be explored and celebrated, relative to music in our schools and communities and we'd like to hear from you! Please tell us about a special tradition celebrated in your school or community, relative to music education. We will select a variety of submissions to publish in the April issue!
