WSMA Festival Music List
The Wisconsin School Music Association offers a music list of more than 5,000 carefully selected titles to promote musical growth through practice, performance, and evaluation at WSMA-sanctioned music festivals. Each year, more than 220,000 students take the initiative to participate in WSMA festivals, and use the music from the WSMA Music Festival List. Wisconsin teachers annually volunteer many hours to review and select music for this list. 2010-2011 Festival Music List - Coming in September!
Each year, the WSMA Festival Music List is published the first week of school in Wisconsin (the week of Labor Day). Changes to the list happen on a four-year rotation, seen in the Schedule of Revisions. Here's what you can expect for this year:
- Solo Event Lists: Only minor corrections will be made. The 2009-2010 Festival Music List can be used as a guide to selecting music prior to the release of the new music list, BUT PLEASE NOTE that you should always double check the selection when the new list is published, in case there have been minor corrections made to your selection.
- Ensemble Event Lists: This is the year for major revisions to the ensembles list. Selection panels comprised of music teachers have been working diligently to evaluate current and new music for these lists.
- Concert Group Event Lists: Each year a third of each concert lists changes. The last two digits of the selection number indicate which summer the piece will be rotated off of the list. (i.e. If the number ends in "10" the selection will be rotating off this year, if it ends in "11" it is good until next summer, etc.)
