Description:
This class is designed for teachers who currently do not have a classroom web site and are interested in creating one. Participants will learn what makes a good web site, how to add aesthetic objects, and how to provide downloadable documents and audio files. Each week participants will receive hands-on experience in learning the applications presented. In the end, participants will have a working web site they can use as a productive communication tool.

This is a 6-week online course worth two graduate credits. Participants should plan to spend approximately 5 hours per week completing the work for this course.

Instructor:
Timothy Smith is currently the band director at Wilson Junior High in Manitowoc, where he teaches 7th through 9th grade band as well as jazz ensemble. He also serves as a district technology advocate. Timothy received his Bachelor of Music Education from UW-Oshkosh and a Master of Information Technology from Regis University in Denver.

Graduate Credit Information:
Registrants will earn two graduate credits for this 6-week course. Since this is an online course through Viterbo University, credit is required; therefore graduate credit fees are included in the workshop registration. To complete the credit registration, please download a copy of the Viterbo registration form (pdf) and mail to: Terri Felton, WMEA, 1005 Quinn Drive, Waunakee, WI 53597. This form is in addition to your workshop registration.

Grade reports will be mailed to you approximately 4-6 weeks after the course, after which time you may request a transcript. Transcripts may be requested directly from Viterbo by completing and mailing in a Transcript Request Form (pdf). Transcripts are $5 per transcript per request.

Online Platform/Blackboard Information:
Viterbo uses the Blackboard platform for its online courses. Once you register for the course, you will receive a user name and password to open your Blackboard account.
