Description:
Detailed instructions will be provided for setting up your classes in the SmartMusic Gradebook, enrolling students, creating and managing assignments, and best practices for the integration of this into your curriculum. Also included is a brief overview of SmartMusic 2011; an update that emphasizes efficiency and intuitive access to all of SmartMusic’s content and practice features. With over 2,500 concert titles and 23 method books there’s more than ever for you and your students.

Instructor:
Leigh Kallestad is Education Market Specialist for MakeMusic. He has presented SmartMusic/Finale clinics and school in-service workshops to music educators across the country. Leigh is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and the University of
Michigan-Ann Arbor. He taught instrumental music for 27 years, 21 of which were in the Westonka School District in Mound, MN. His article Incorporating Technology into Traditional Teaching appeared in Bandworld and the School Band and Orchestra magazines.

Graduate Credit Information:
Registrants may earn one graduate credit for attending a minimum of 13 webinars in this series for an additional fee of $180.

Please do not send credit registrations to Viterbo University. If you are registering for more than one course, please include a separate check and Viterbo form for each course.
Grade reports will be mailed to you approximately 4-6 weeks after the course, after which time you may request a transcript. Transcripts may be requested directly from Viterbo by completing and mailing in a Transcript Request Form (pdf). Transcripts are $5 per transcript per request.

Webinars are "web seminars" that include both an audio line (telephone) and an online presentation. Webinar participants will register as for any other workshop, but instead of joining the workshop in person, they can attend from home using a telephone and a computer with an internet connection.
After you register, you will be provided with a phone number and password to enter the webinar. At the scheduled time, click on the webinar link emailed to you and then call the phone number for the audio line. You may want to join the webinar 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to be sure everything is working.
During the webinar, the presenter's voice will be heard over the telephone, while the presentation will be visible on your computer screen. Usually the presentation is in the form of a PowerPoint or other slide slow, but the presenter may also show screen shots of his or her computer, navigate to other web sites, etc.
