Description:
This course gives teachers a working knowledge of SmartMusic learning software and an introduction to Impact grading software (included with a SmartMusic Teacher Subscrip-
tion). Learn how to use SmartMusic to assess student performance and to help them develop better practice and listening skills. The class allows for "hands-on" experience combined with sequential step-by-step instruction for teachers as they introduce SmartMusic into their music curriculum. Hand-outs and several class projects will be provided.
One graduate credit is available for participants who attend both levels for an additional fee of $180 per credit. Credit information will be available at the workshop and is also available in the Graduate Credit section below.

Instructor:
Leigh Kallestad is an education sales representative for MakeMusic, the manufacturer of Finale and SmartMusic software. He presents clinics at music conventions, school in-service workshops and works with school districts as they implement Finale and SmartMusic in their curriculum. Leigh is a graduate of the University of North Dakota and completed his masters degree in music education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He taught instrumental music for 29 years, 22 of which were in the Westonka School District in Mound, Minnesota. During his tenure at Westonka, he taught band at every grade level, directed jazz ensemble and also added classes in guitar and music technology.

Graduate Credit Information:
Participants who attend both workshops have the opportunity to earn one graduate credit for an additional fee of $180. This is a separate registration and fee from the workshop registration. Please do not send credit registrations to Viterbo University. If you are registering for more than one course, please include a separate check and Viterbo form for each course.
Grade reports will be mailed to you approximately 4-6 weeks after the course, after which time you may request a transcript. Transcripts may be requested directly from Viterbo by completing and mailing in a Transcript Request Form (pdf). Transcripts are $5 per transcript per request.
